Rainforest Resource Trunk
A trunk containing slides color plates, articles and activities to be used as a resource by all MPS science teachers to bring the rainforest "alive in their classrooms

Plants, Plants, Plants!
Classroom center providing Nature Station, Root-Vue Farm, and GrowLab Compact Garden. Students get a firsthand look at nature in action, then discuss and report on the results.

Magnificent Machines
Students rotate through various machine related hands-on learning centers. They then will design and engineer a machine to accomplish a simple task. Machines will consist of magnets, knexs, and gears.

Tracking the Sun
 
Use of a "suntracker" to plot the track of the sun across the sky at different times of the year.

Publishing with Pizzazz!
Students will publish their selected writings using a variety of binding techniques, including picture books, poetry, trade books, etc. They create the book bindings using provided materials.

Fisher's Flying Flowers
Establishment of a "Butterfly Garden", to attract butterflies, which will then be classified and tagged in a partnership with Kansas University. Students and parents will volunteer to maintain the garden throughout the growing season.

Writing, Math, and Pigs!!
Students will engage in a variety of activities involving a number of educational disciplines. Activities will be suggested by the "Math and Literature workbook", and other published materials to be funded by the grant.

Farm Fun
Kindergarten students will gain an appreciation for farming through various farm activities, including hearing sounds, building simple projects, and interactive choral readings.

Grant funds will be used to establish a first grade Science Activity Center. Supplies purchased will allow students to actively explore animal life cycles, recording their findings and drawing conclusions.
